The Hope & Anchor

2 Station Road, Welham Green

Great old building, recorded as a pub in 1838. Guinness and Directors but served through a sparkler for loads of head, if that's what you like. Two bars, lounge and public. Lounge has big fires, horse brasses and old photos. Public has a pool table and Sky big screen television. Plenty of parking and garden for the summer with children's play area next to the car park.

Our pub and restaurant reviewer, Rolly has promised to write a proper review of these pubs. Until he does, here are some quick comments from memory.

The Sibthorpe Arms

Station Road, Welham Green

McMullens Pub with two bars. The lounge bar has a large area for eating. The public bar has a dartboard and is a popular with the locals in the evening. There is plenty of parking and a children's play area. In the summer it is pleasant to sit at tables in front of the pub.

The Old Maypole

43 Warrengate Road, Water End

01707 642119

A favourite with the welhamgreen.com team and well worth the mile long walk, or cycle ride. Large car park. 16th century pub. Great beer with guest ales, and great food. Garden with outside tables for the summer and occasional barbecue. The garden is completely enclosed for families with children and there is a separate non-smoking family room. But go for the beer.

The Woodman

Warrengate Road, Water End

Almost next to the Old Maypole and worth a visit. Has a good selection of beers with a very homely atmosphere. Good garden at the rear, but sunny popular area at the front with tables.
